What’s it like to look healthy on the outside, yet feel anything but on the inside? For people with rheumatoid arthritis, that’s a feeling they know well. RA is often called an invisible condition, not easily recognizable on the surface.
RA doesn’t have one look, it’s as varied as the individuals who live with it. These stories are just a few examples of What RA Looks Like.
Ashley Boynes-Shuck calls herself “Arthritis Ashley.” She’s an author, blogger and advocate for people living with RA. She aims to “live a positive life while chronically ill,” and she does it by incorporating a holistic approach of nutrition, exercise, supplementation, and an overall lifestyle of wellness.
Mariah Leach is an author, blogger and advocate who lives with rheumatoid arthritis. She’s a mom of two small boys and expecting her third child. Despite the dual challenges of being a mom with a chronic illness, she tackles life always facing forward while teaching her children important life lessons: never to judge a person by how they look, and the importance of compassion and empathy.
Daniel Malito has been living with rheumatoid arthritis since he was a young child. He’s a book author, blogger and podcaster who focuses on providing comfort and understanding to people who live with RA, and strongly believes that forming positive, trustful relationships with people is important and can make all the difference in your quality of life--especially when you have a chronic illness.
