Hipster Baby Names Parents Will Regret In 10 Years
These are the names parents regret giving their babies
Chances are if you were given the chance to choose your own name, then you probably wouldn’t have opted for the name your parents picked for you at birth.
Whilst most of us don’t exactly regret the name our parents did pick for us (although I would have appreciated it if my parents opted for a name that half theboysin my class didn’t also have), it turns out that many of our parents do regret the name they chose.
After conducting a survey of over 1000 people,Mumsnetfound that 18% of parents regret the name they chose for their little one (awkward).
The results showed that 32% of parents realised they regretted their baby’s name within the first six weeks of giving birth, whilst a further 23% of parents said the realisation hit once their child had started preschool.
As stated by theMetro, one in four parents regretted their name choice after finding out that others had also chosen the same name for their child. If you want your child to have a more distinctive name then we’d recommend avoiding the most popular baby names of 2019 for a bit. While not seek inspiration from these common baby names that are now at risk of becoming extinct, instead?
A further one in ten parents found that their child’s chosen name was often misspelled or mispronounced and cited that as their reason for regret, whilst others didn’t like the shortened down nickname their child’s name resulted in.
Interestingly, 17% of the parents surveyed said they would go pick a different name for their child if they could, but only one in 50 parents actually went on to change their child’s name altogether.
