Okay, Let's Talk About Eyebrow Bleaching
For some unknown reason, my eyebrows grow in a lot lighter than my hair. They border on translucent, actually. In an effort to correct nature's obvious mistake, I've been dying them brown to match my locks for years. So, one look at Miley Cyrus' newly bleached brows literally made my right eye twitch.
Since a photo of an invisible-browed Miley was originally shared on model Miranda Kerr's Instagram feed, the OOC singer's own account has blown up with more selfies. And then everyone on the internet freaked out. Despite the frenzy, she's not the first celeb to do such a bleach job: K$sha and fashion model Crystal Renn have also sported the barely-there brow look.
While I'd like to think this means I can go ahead and trash my coloring kit and brow pencils, coloring your brows to match your hair—whether you are darkening like me or lighting a la Kim Kardashian—is the right move.
"It really is best to go based off your hair color," says brow expert Noemi Grupenmager, founder of Uni-K Wax Center. To achieve a brow color that won't freak everybody out, Grupenmager advises leaving the big decisions to a professional. "Brow tint is permanent, after all," she says.
Remember, though, that many hair stylists won't color your brows along with your locks, so you might need to visit a brow specialist to get a matching shade.
